MICHAEL ZEGARSKI enjoys an active and diverse career based in New York City. Michael Zegarski, Michael Zegarski, Michael Zegarski, Michael Zegarski Accomplished in Opera, Concert and Theater, he has premiered several works; most noteworthy are his role as General Kitab in the World Premiere of Haroun and the Sea of Stories, by Charles Wuorinen at New York City Opera and Wyllis Elliot in the World Premiere Opera by Libby Larsen at Opera Omaha, titled, Eric HermannsonÕs Soul. In Musical Theater, Michael was featured in the critically - acclaimed Off Broadway musical, Blood on the Dining Room Floor written by Jonathan Sheffer at the Peter Norton space, and has sung early performances of the theme song from the musical, All About Us based on Thornton WilderÕs play, The Skin of our Teeth, composed by the legendary Kander and Ebb. As a concert artist he has sung with the Juilliard Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony, New Haven Symphony, American Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin, New York City OperaÕs Orchestra as part of the ÒShowcasing American ComposersÓ series, and has been featured at some of New York CityÕs most prominent musical venues including, Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and most recently, JoeÕs Pub. He has sung with New York City Opera, Opera Theater of St. Louis, Opera Omaha, Minnesota Opera, Opera North, Nine Circles Chamber Theater, Gotham Chamber Opera, New York Festival of Song, and is a regularly featured member of American Opera Projects, where he was appointed to the Board of Directors in fall of 2005. MICHAEL ZEGARSKI Regional Music Theater credits include Hello Dolly, South Pacific, Babes in Arms, Rags, BeggarÕs Opera, Anything Goes and H.M.S. Pinafore. He has been seen on MTVÕs The State and has toured the country as part of Audi Motor Cars Rising Star Concert Series. He was named a regional finalist in the renowned Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and has won numerous awards and grants as a singing actor, including the Silver Medal in the Savannah Music Festival American Traditions Vocal Competition where he has also returned as a featured entertainer. As a composer, he has released the CD Single, Unity Anthem, on Dec. 13th, 2001, which was composed by Michael as a response to the Sept. 11 attacks which he performed in Washington DC at the Lincoln Memorial as part of the United Day of Peace memorial services and has since been performed by choirs and soloist nation wide. Michael is a native of Chicago, earned a B.M. in Musical Theater from the University of Minnesota, is a graduate of the Juilliard School and was a member of the Juilliard Opera Center for two years.
